I've been very busy lately, so this post is simply going to be a quick run down of what has been going on, in the modeling side of my life!

Summer Happenings 2012

Hello all! So sorry for the delay in posting! I have been so busy this summer and have hardly any time to think! Here is what I have been doing, with some photos to follow along!

In mid July, I took a trip to Long Beach, CA with my professor Dr. Dunne, to present our NASA garments for a textiles conference.  We also taught a class on wearable technologies and how to use circuitry in garments and other textiles. It was so much fun helping others understand and grasp how interesting wearable technologies are! And you know what they say: you truly understand something when you can teach it to someone else! :)

Here are some pics:

I then had one of my first commercial shoots.  If you follow my blog, you've seen some of my modeling. Thus far I have done mostly fashion and editorial type modeling (think moody, stone faced models and grungy catwalks).  This past spring I made a big change of agencies as well as markets and now work doing mostly commercial work (think happy, smily, Target etc.)  So far I love it, its much more "me". Here are a few shots from the lookbook I shot for Lily & Violet, a new local clothing retailer.

And finally, Kevin and I had the wonderful experience of seeing Coldplay live!!! They played their last stop on their North American tour promoting their new album, Mylo Xyloto, last Saturday in St Paul.  Here is a link to a video I took: http://youtu.be/V0vjskE1ZkQ and some photos below:

My summer has been fantastic! Hope to see you all during fall fashion week festivities!

NASA: Houston, TX

I'm back! So sorry for the lack of posts over the past few weeks, this NASA project has been keeping me so busy, but here is a post about the wrap up of it over this weekend!

This past Thursday through the weekend, I was in Houston, TX presenting my group's final electronic textiles prototype to NASA! It was the most fun I've ever had in 36 hours, probably the most stressful as well, but definitely the most fun!  Our group flew from Minneapolis/St. Paul to Houston, TX by way of Atlanta. Our layover in Atlanta was only 30 minutes, which meant all 22 of us running through the airport to make our connection!  Our first night in Houston, Thursday night, our group stayed up until 3am working on debugging and finalizing our prototype and getting our presentation just right for our meeting with NASA Friday morning.  The day of our presentation went great! Our NASA mentors were very impressed with what we had come up with and what we had accomplished in such a short time span.

Tired but happy!

Our group presenting.

After our presentation sessions we had a private tour of some of the NASA displays and facilities. It was amazing to see some of the machines, technologies, apparel and vehicles that NASA has used in the past, as well as some of the prototypes of things they are working on for the future.

After our day at NASA, our group went out for a night on the town, country style! We spent the evening at Big Texas Dance Hall and Saloon. Texan men are a different breed, let me tell you! I have never met more polite men, or nicer women for that matter. Here are a few fun shots of our night out!

My loves: Mai, Ashton, Kaila and me! I'm tall...lol

Being silly outside the bar! It was 85 degrees that night!

XOXO
By far the most fun I've had in a weekend, ever! This next weekend I'm looking forward to two great fashion shows: Minnesota Designer Diaries on Saturday, and Sol Inspirations on Sunday. I'll be walking in both and they should be wonderful.
